The Family of Faith Ministries is made up of several entities which hold their own separate functions, but work together with one vision: To Orchestrate A Worldwide Penetration of the Gospel.
The Family of Faith Church was founded in 1983 by Dr. Sam and Kathy Matthews with a direct word from God to raise up a church built on New Testament principles of church government and order patterned after the five-fold ministry gifts of Ephesians 4:11. We have seen God’s hand of blessing from those early moments to the present. Through many changes and shifts, the Matthews’ have pastored this congregation while leading and pursuing the higher call and release of God’s glory in the earth.
Some History
The church first met in a rented storefront building in Shawnee, Oklahoma until purchasing property between Shawnee and Meeker on Highway 18. We built a new building and began occupancy in October, 1984. The original building has had two extensions, which include a library, a kitchen, classrooms, and a small gymnasium (fellowship hall).
In August 1985, the Family of Faith Christian School was established. It was never the intention to simply have a nice alternative to public education. Instead, it was birthed by the Spirit of God with the burden that Jesus carries for the world. As He spoke in Matthew 9:37, “The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.” God gave a specific call to see that these laborers would be raised up, trained, and sent to the world. The burning desire is to see a generation of prepared workers to live out the purposes of God.
The school began with grades kindergarten through sixth and each year the next grade level was added until all twelve grades were established. The first senior graduation was held in 1992. Kathy Matthews was the administrator from its beginning through the school year of 2003-2004. Christopher Belyeu has since stepped into the position of administrator and carried on the vision and heart of God for these children. He graduated from the school and Family of Faith College, receiving his Masters Degree from Oral Roberts University.
Similarly, the Family of Faith College was founded in 1992 by the decree of the Holy Spirit for the purpose of further educating, discipling, and training laborers for the Kingdom of God. The college equips students spiritually, academically, and practically to accomplish the Great Commission through effective service in churches, Christian schools, businesses, and Bible colleges worldwide. The Family of Faith College has also introduced a program designed to help adults complete their degrees based on a very flexible schedule. It is called the Advance Program and details can be found on the ADVANCE webpage.
All these ministries further channel our efforts and passion to see this world impacted by the love and grace of God. More than empty words or nice thoughts, this is what we live for and pursue every day.
